I teach Kindergarten-5th grade Elementary Spanish and have a great time teaching these children a second language at such a young age. It is difficult to come by age-appropriate materials when it comes to teaching children this young, and I have created the majority of resources I use. I have also had experience teaching Middle School Spanish and some High School Spanish.
I am a firm believer in the power of TPRS (total physical response and storytelling). I feel that engaging students kinesthetically as well as attaching meaning and humor to vocabulary words is essential when it comes to teaching a foreign language. I feel that I have had a great deal of success in teaching Elementary and Middle School students Spanish with this methodology. Giving students ownership of the words by allowing them to create class stories in class with the vocabulary that they are learning is very encouraging for students. The Mad Libs format PowerPoints have been a big hit with my students and have helped them retain the vocabulary long-term.
I graduated Suma Cum Laude from Cedarville University with a Bachelor's Degree in K-12 Spanish Education. I was also asked to speak at Wright State University's symposium.
I took four years of Spanish in High School and was taught through the TPRS methodology. I also majored in Multi-Age Spanish Education in college and graduated with a degree in K-12 Spanish Education. I currently teach K-5th grade Spanish and have also taught Middle School Spanish 1.
I love life and everything about the Spanish culture and language!
