I have had a variety of different teaching positions over the years: a teaching practicum in Vancouver (Grade 4); my first full-time classroom position at a bilingual school in Torreon, Mexico (Grade 4); a substitute teaching position in Vancouver (Kindergarten to Grade 7); a Montessori job share in Vancouver (multiage Grades 1–3); and my own full-time Montessori classroom in Vancouver (multiage, some combination of K–3). I was also a competitive and recreational gymnastics coach for many years, with participants ages five to 15.
My teaching style is to bring independence into the classroom as much as possible. I see myself as a guide and a facilitator rather than a provider of information. Obviously, I am heavily influenced by Montessori methods, but I also like to create fusion resources which draw on the best of Montessori and other teaching philosophies.
Yet to be added
I have several official qualifications: a B.A in Linguistics; a B.Ed. in Elementary Education; a post-degree diploma in Early Years Education; and Montessori (AMS) certification.
I live in beautiful British Columbia with my son and two cats. We play a lot of trains, trucks, and Magnatiles, and get outside to enjoy the sunshine whenever possible. I'm so happy to be able to dig into the local BC curriculum and provide other Montessori teachers with quality resources for their classrooms.
