TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I began my teaching career in Michigan as a 6th grade math and Spanish teacher. I then made the move to Arizona to continue my career teaching. In Arizona I taught 3 years in a 4th grade classroom (1 of those as an ELL teacher) and then completed 3 years as a 1st grade teacher. I now live in Chicago and am doing group and private tutoring and working to help full time teachers by creating resources they can use in their classrooms.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe students thrive when there is lots of engagement, communication, and interaction during learning. The more students can discuss what they are learning and connect it to other things they already know, the better chance they have at remembering the new materials. I have taken a week long seminar in Kagan engagement strategies and really enjoy incorporating those into my lessons as often as possible.
