TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 23rd year teaching high school in a public school with classes that range from 30-35. I began as a special education teacher, an experience which prepared me to focus more on how we learn than we often shown in our graduate programs. I have, thanks to early mentors, always been inclined to use technology to improve my own instruction and aid their learning. Often this means using such tools to design smarter handouts, deliver more effective instruction via LCDs, online resources, and so on. I have been directly involved with groups creating Common Core State Standards national assessments and the next generation of Advanced Placement English Course Standards.
