TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've taught 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade in my career. My classes have mostly been inclusion, but I have also worked with gifted cluster students. This year we are doing a pilot of gifted and inclusion. With all of the scheduling issues that both of those have, you would think it wouldn't work, but it is working relatively well!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love hands on learning, using music, brain breaks, and transition phases. I am a strong believer in differentiation/group work to foster communication and social skills in the classroom.

Rookie Teacher of the Year- NSES 2005-2006 Reading Teacher of the Year-NSES 2009-2010 Elementary Teacher of the Year- NSES and District 2010-2011

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I went to college at a small liberal arts school in upstate NY called Elmira College. My major is Elementary Education and English Literature. I have started working on my graduate degree from UVA in Reading Education.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have such a soft spot for my corgi, Bingley. She is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi and is about a year and a half now. She is my world, apart from my classroom kids each year.
