TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hi! I'm Katie, and I attended school to become an English teacher slightly later in life. After graduating in 2013, I have taught in several capacities in both West Virginia and my home state of Pennsylvania. My expertise is in secondary English with a primary focus on ninth and tenth grades, but I have taught everything from special education Mathematics to Oral Communications, as well. I am currently finishing my Master's degree in Literature and Composition.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Hyped up - Not Afraid to Make a Fool of Myself - Let the Kiddos Take the Reigns Once We Lay a Great Foundation kind of teacher. I love controlled chaos, but I crave structure. I use a variety of strategies in my lessons and like to alternate them often to keep students engaged. Students in my class are usually seen leading discussion, participating in authentic assessments, or focusing on project-based learning. I am currently trying to incorporate more problem-based learning activities into my planning.
