Teacher Early Childhood The Wheeler School, Providence, RI Fall 1983-Present • Within a team model develop and implement interesting age appropriate units of study with an emphasis on math, literacy, social studies and science, designed to meet children’s social, emotional, cognitive, creative and culturally diverse needs in preparation for Kindergarten. • Inform parents of program in all curricular areas. Conduct parent /teacher conferences three times a year, providing portfolio assessments in social, emotional, developmental and cognitive areas -keeping a time line on the progress of each child. • Design and deliver a pre-writing literacy rotation based program to meet the emergent literacy needs of students. • Exceed all NAEYC guidelines for teaching standards in order to keep students ahead of the learning curve. Director of Overbrook Camp at Wheeler July 2008 - Present The Wheeler Farm, Seekonk, MA • Direct an English emersion camp for 140 foreign girls from Spanish speaking countries and Korea ages 7-14 years old, to provide them with a quintessential outdoor camp experience. • Manage a staff of 8 counselors who attend college. • Draft and manage vendor contracts. • Hold weekly meetings and conduct counselor/vendor evaluations. Handwriting Coordinator for Grades Pre-K thru Grade 2 September 2007 -Present The Wheeler School Providence, RI • Work with teachers and students in Pre-K thru Grade 2 on an as needed basis to provide handwriting support and information on best practices.
