I have been teaching for the past 22 yrs and have taught in different capacities. I began as a regular education teacher for the first 4 yrs. then I switched to special education for 4 yrs. After moving to another county, I taught 3rd grade regular education then returned to special education grades 5-8. My last 3 yrs have been in elementary special education and it's been wonderful! I have enjoyed teaching in each position and it's helped me become so much more diversified as a teacher!
My style has been basically the same from the beginning. I believe in teaching toward the child's interests and making it hands-on as much as possible! I like a well organized classroom and I believe in good classroom management. My students know my routines and expectations and seem to adjust very well!
I have received several honors from Louisiana Education Foundation for my teaching and was chosen to teach a technology workshop for the district on a new Science textbook adoption program that encompassed a CD which demonstrated several games and activities for the children.
I graduated from Louisiana State University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. I later returned to get my certification in Special Education.
Drawing and creating is my passion and I have been doing it since I am 5 yrs old!
