TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught in the elementary school for 36 years and am now retired. Half of those years were spent teaching technology classes and most of the other half were in a third grade classroom.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Since I have a strong background and interest in technology, I loved to use it in some way in everything I taught. Writing is a particular favorite of mine so my students used the computer to write in many different genres. I love the mini-lesson where the teacher plants the seed and the students are responsible for the growth and enrichment of the learning. Journals became an easy tool to hold lots of information that students had access to as a reference.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Charleston County School District Certificate of Excellence for instructional best practices in the area of Social Studies, Charleston County School District Teacher Outstanding Performance (Top) Award for academic progress, The Senate of the State of South Carolina Certificate as a High Performing Teacher.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from the University of West Georgia with a B.S. in Elementary Education and I have my Masters Degree in Educational Technology.
