I've been a teacher for 11 years and have taught all subjects to students in grades K-8. I have worked for inner-city public schools, High performing suburban public schools, and KIPP schools. Each has it's own strengths and weaknesses that have shaped me into the educator I am today.
Workshop Approach. I love hands-on anything, attention-grabbers, curiousity enhancers. Readers/Writers Workshop and Daily 5 have been the two structures for my ELA instruction that I have gravitated towards. I haven't taught math for awhile now, but love the work of Dan Meyer and still follow his blog.
Yet to be added
I have my Masters in Education from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan and my Bachelors in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan.
I have two daughters. One was born with VCFS, a genetic disorder affecting health and learning. She challenges me to find new ways of explaining and teaching EVERYDAY. The other is GT and comes with her own challenges, mainly her perfectionist personality and strong will.
