I retired with 31+ years teaching experience in grades Kindergarten – 9th grades in the NC Public Schools in Nov. 2011. I taught in seven different school systems in traditional, magnet, and year round settings serving many diverse groups. One of the highlights that I was able to help implement in the schools where I taught was to stress Character Education through music. I have written 11 Character Education songs. I look forward to sharing the Character Education songs, plans and activities with Teachers Pay Teachers! I also served as an accompanist and as a church music director working with Choirs, Tone Chimes and Instrumental Ensembles. I also will post some easy Tone Chime arrangements that can be used with children and adults.
My personal teaching style was one of integration of the arts into the curriculum while striving to implement the NC Standard Course of Study. My classes were made up of different mediums, striving to reach every child’s interest in order to share my love of music. A greater goal was to let every child know they were special and valued.
