I am a 3rd generation educator and have served 18 years in public education. I have 15 years teaching various high school subjects to include all levels of both Biology and Physics; on-level and Pre-AP Chemistry; Earth-Space-Science (ESS) and Environmental Science. For the upcoming 2018-19 school year, I am again teaching AP Biology, and adding a new course, Advanced Topics in Biology. I managed to get an ESS added to our campus for the first time ever! I have 3 years experience as a science content expert for the Texas Education Agency on the STAAR assessments. Additionally I have written numerous laboratory activities including student & teacher editions for various, large publishers. I love kids and the learning process!
I use the "POGIL" approach in my classroom. POGIL is an acronym for Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning. It is a student-centered, group-learning instructional strategy and philosophy developed through research on how students learn best.
