I have been teaching for 9 years. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th. My last 6 years have been spent teaching 5th grade.
Throughout my educational journey I have worked with a variety of children in order to develop my philosophy of education. I would like to share some of my beliefs with you: All children are capable of learning in a positive environment Every child has a unique strength or talent. I look to expand upon their strengths and encourage them to grow Success is reached when what is learned in the classroom can be applied to real life situations therefore becoming meaningful to the child Children need to be provided with technology skills for the 21st century By using these beliefs as a nucleus, major emphasis will be on: Self-esteem, “You can do it!” Technology integrated into all curriculum with emphasis on hands-on applications Sharing- working cooperatively with others Developing skills that are necessary to become effective readers and writers Developing speaking and listening skills Developing successful study skills and habits Accepting responsibility for ones actions
