TEACHING EXPERIENCE

A stay at home mother until both my children were in school, I came to teaching later in life. I went back to school to get my masters in teaching while my two children were still in elementary school. I am NYS certified in Pre K- 6 and High School Social Studies, but have spent more time teaching high school English, Shakespeare to be specific, than I have teaching Social Studies. I have been teaching fourth grade for 12 years and absolutely love my job. Most recently my teaching partner and I have implemented a 1 to 1 iPad initiative in our district. Each 4th grade student is issued an iPad when they enter fourth grade and it travels with them through elementary, middle and high school.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a passionate teacher and nurturer of children. My students know that I will always give them exactly what they need, be it a pencil, a push, a break, a hug or even just silence. I believe in a hands on, minds on approach to learning. I encourage my students to make mistakes and learn from them. Our classroom motto is "Always Working" and I push my students to achieve their personal best. I love to watch their brains in action and enjoy helping my students get out of their comfort zone through productive struggle.
