I have taught high school Spanish for 25 years and have taught English as well in San Diego, CA. I have presented studies in various educational conferences and contributed to such publications as The Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy, published by The International Reading Association and The California Reader.
Teaching strategies I use include integrated speaking, listening, reading, and writing through power-point presentations, vocabulary mapping, reading comprehension checks, grammatical structural analysis, collaborative learning strategies, individual and group presentations, skits, games, blog writing, Spanish language interactive programs through the internet, music and songs as well as modeled and independent writing. Students are given opportunities to develop ownership of learning through Socratic circle discussions and through individual power-point presentations.

I am the author of SPANISH ACROSS AMERICA: A Ready-to-Use Resource, available through Amazon.com, is a dual language (Spanish/English) phrase book that can readily be used by teachers, students, parents, counselors, school administrators, and by professionals throughout an array of specialized areas wishing to communicate effortlessly in Spanish or in English through pre¬constructed sentences and questions. The phonetically transcribed phrases can be employed within community locales, classrooms, offices and schools. Spanish teachers may want to use the book as a source for skits students can develop from the thematically organized phrases. I am also co-author of 'Effective Instruction for English Language Learners: Supporting Text-Based Comprehension and Communication Skills' and 'Accommodating Differences among English Language Learners, Second Edition: Best Practices: 75+ Literacy Lessons', both available on Amazon.com.
