I have been an educator for 20 years in the public schools. My calling has been for teaching second grade and have done so for 15 years. In 2004, I received my Masters Degree in Literacy. I have been an active member of my district's Writing Team for implementing CCSS into Math and Reading. It was my responsibility to create a scope and sequence and align the CCSS to our district's Reading Series and Math Series. I presented the new scope and sequence to all of the second grade teachers in the district.
I consider myself an "edutainer". There is a lot of competition in our world to capture a young child's attention (i-pads, video games, tablets, etc). I find that if I am animated, have children sing concepts, have a hands-on experience with their learning, and move around enough, I am able to hold their attention.

I received my Bachelor's Degree from Rhode Island College in 1992. In 2004, I received my Masters in Literacy from Providence College.
I am a mother of three boys. They are 16, 10, and 9 years old. All three boys play hockey and lacrosse. I am one of those crazy hockey mothers who will drive two hours to watch and cheer on my son's hockey game.
