We've lived all over the world, so I've always had to hit the ground running. In Germany, my students had lived in the countries we were studying in Social Studies. I hadn't even traveled through most of them. In Belgium, my students were from all the NATO nations, and most were multilingual. My North Carolina students lived in the housing projects, and my Illinois students were adults seeking their GED. In New Mexico, I fell in love with the Navajo culture through my Native American students and their families. Here in Texas, I've had fun working with gifted and talented students from higher socioeconomic backgrounds. Being part of a transient military family, I have always felt one step behind, but each new challenge forced me to adapt quickly. Most often, I took the job that nobody else wanted. Looking back, each uncomfortable adaptation taught me something, and I am grateful for the lessons learned along my journey. Now, with over twenty-five years of teaching experience, I look back over the years with gratitude for every single student, especially the difficult ones. Every kid will forever be a part of me, and each one shaped me along the way. Every single school had one common thread: teachers were pressed for time. My hope is to share some of my collective knowledge with you through my collection of fun and time-saving products. I would love to believe I'd contributed to your extraordinary classroom journey.
My areas of expertise are technology integration, brain based instruction, and differentiated instruction. My goal is to motivate students beyond the curriculum, with the hope of creating a love of learning. Like so many teachers, my lessons integrate several disciplines simultaneously, and I would like to believe each one is delivered with love and gratitude. I watch for miracles throughout the school year. My hope is to connect those miracles to your classroom, and for you to pass them on, as they were passed to me over the years.
