My first 5 years of teaching were each like "5-1st year teaching" experiences. I switched grade levels 5 years in a row! Yikes! I loved all of them. I truly miss 3rd and 4th grade, but landed in middle school in 2002 and never left. I think I have officially become one of them! After teaching English for 13 years, I finally landed the dream job... Computer Literacy. My lessons not only work for my 6th-8th grade students, but were also just approved to count as a high school credit!
I am strict, set clear boundaries, have super high expectations and somewhat rigid routines, but we have SO MUCH FUN that I think it works!
Nominated for Disney Teacher of the Year my first year teaching. (of course this was from an adorable 4th grader, since hitting middle school... not so much :-)
