I have been in the education field for 22 years. My teaching experience truly covers K-12 and beyond; having co-taught a Kindergarten inclusion class, an AP Psychology class, professional development workshops and more! I spent the first 15 years teaching general and special education in middle and high school. Two of those years were spent as a Supervisor of Special Education. After that I transitioned back into the classroom at the elementary level where I have had the opportunity to primarily teach grades K, 1 and 2 - no pun intended!
My teaching style varies depending on the age group and needs of my current students. I am versatile and use a host of classroom management techniques and teaching strategies to engage my students. I like to provide structure with options for learning.
In 2016 I received the Weston Award for Excellence in Teaching. I was one of 15 teachers chosen from a field of over 250. The award is based on parent or student nomination and then decided on by a committee from the whole district. It was a great honor to win in the final year the award was being given out - it was my fourth nomination.
I hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Master's Degree in Religious Education. I completed a post-baccalaureate program in Special Education and 30 additional graduate credits in Educational Leadership. I hold 5 endorsements in the state of New Jersey: Elementary Education Teacher of the Handicapped Teacher of Psychology Supervisor Principal (CE)
