I started working in a school when I was 18 years old. I started in an after-school program where I learned a lot about classroom management. At one point, we had over 120 K-6 students enrolled! After I graduated with my degree in education, I was hired to teach 1st grade. I taught first grade for 2 years and this is my fourth year teaching kindergarten.
First of all, I work extremely hard to create a positive classroom environment where we all respect each other. I think that it's important to teach my kids responsibility and to encourage them to work together with their peers. I love using Kagan strategies and activities that encourage movement and discussion. I use a lot of music in my classroom and I allow my students to move around while we're completing certain activities. I try to use hands-on learning and technology as often as possible.
