I had the pleasure of teaching fourth grade for five years in Florida. After the five years, I was excited to accept the position of being our school technology coordinator. I was involved with teaching all Elementary grade levels in our computer lab during the next four years. I am currently home schooling my two children and am enjoying each teachable moment we share together. I hope that the files I upload will help you in your classroom or home school journey.
Although children seem to learn best while being involved in hands on learning approaches, the classroom schedule sometimes limits this luxury. I hope that the materials I offer assist teachers and parents in scaffolding the initial hands on learning of their students. There are times when we need to provide independent practice for younger students, so that we can have one on one interaction that is uninterrupted with other students.
State award with an inclusion/co-teaching team at my school. I was the leader of our school technology committee for four years. Many afternoons you could find me instructing teachers after school on the latest technology resources in our computer lab. I attended FETC several times and enjoyed continuing my own education. I also worked as an independent educational consultant for a publishing company and taught teacher workshops on implementing their curriculum.
I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Florida State University after attending public school since kindergarten. I love learning and haven't stopped increasing my knowledge after graduating.
My special interest is in teaching students who are blind--because my own son is blind. It was difficult for me to imagine teaching someone who cannot see all of the visual demonstrations that occur in classrooms. This year we are homeschooling him and are able to plan all activities to meet his needs. I'm blessed to be at home with both of my sons. I just began selling on TpT, which is a resource that I used many times as a buyer while teaching. So glad to be here!
