I have 6 1/2 years of experience working in the field of education (and 15 years work in the private sector). Currently, I am a middle school, 8th grade Language Arts teacher. I teach Gen Ed students, SpEd collaborative/immersion classes and GATE/Honors students. I've also worked with elementary students and high school students as an instructional assistant and tutor.
My teaching style is proactive and involved. I spend a lot of time walking around the classroom to build rapport and comfort and to give individual support to each student. My strength is in lesson planning, and so I work to design lessons that are challenging but effective in helping students understand the curriculum. I also work to include parts that will interest and engage my students. And of course, I enjoy sharing my creations with my colleagues.
