TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I began in a rural setting in Nevada teaching the middle grades in a K-8 school. I then switched to Middle School all subjects, and eventually did a math focus becoming a Math Facilitator for the State of Nevada. I ultimately was honored with the Presidential Award in Excellence in Math and Science Teaching representing Nevada. I am officially retired, but still substitute 89 days a year. I recently took a short term contract and became aware of this site and knew I had many ideas to share.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am an eclectic teacher meaning I have many strategies for various situations and classes. I believe in rotating approaches so that all students can perform to their best. My students learn that they are masters of their own fate because of having to look for patterns and make discoveries in math with me as their supreme motivator and questioner. They no doubt get tired of me saying, "Is there another way?"

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am in a position of my life now where I realize all my many years of hard work and teaching experience should be used to help others in our demanding field. If I can help provide some great stimulating ways to get concepts learned, then I know I am still going to be a facilatator.
