TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught for over 20 years- in Honduras, Illinois, and Michigan. I enjoy a challenge and would often volunteer to change grade levels, so my experience includes kindergarten though six grade. My math and science expertise was a key element in being hired in a district as a Curriculum Consultant for 5 years. I have presented over 30 workshops, seminars or lectures at National and local meetings where I helped teachers re-light their enthusiasm for math and science. During the summer of 1995, I was selected to work with a local Math and Science Consortium to create math activities that matched the state standards. After this, I continued to work with Internet sites and began to provide ready-made units where I began to receive requests for specific units and started my own product line, Units by Karen.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Hands on Learning. Integration of math, science, reading and writing. Thematic units.
