TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Student taught 11th grade at a large urban high school and 7th grade at a small rural middle school. Taught 6th and 10th grade my first year at a suburban charter school.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I keep a balance between teacher-centered and student-centered activities. I use a variety of activities to appeal to many different learning styles. Engaging students in learning that is relevant to their lives now is extremely important to me, so with every lesson I explain how the material matters outside the classroom. I plan "backwards" by starting with the standards, creating an assessment, and then developing activities.

Graduated from St. Cloud State University in May of 2012 with a BS in Communication Arts and Literature. AVID tutor training in 2011.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

As a child, I attended almost every model of school: private, public, university-model, homeschool, international school, and foreign school. I've experienced life as a student language-learner in Europe. Because of my varied experiences, I can easily relate to students of many backgrounds.
