TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a Special Education Teacher for twelve years! Over the course of those years, I gained experience and formal training in effective research-based practices for Special Education. I taught for five years as an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher and I have spent the last seven years working in an elementary school that supports students with special learning needs. I have extensive experience in teaching students with mild to profound intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders and emotional disabilities.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I utilize student interests to make learning fun and I strive to foster a life long love of education in all children. I am very energetic and take a positive approach to learning. I am excited about my career and in making a difference in a student or colleague’s life. I am a compassionate person which translates into my work. I hope to be a benefit to any students or families that you serve. I have a specific interest in utilizing research-based methodologies to educate students with special learning needs.

Served on the Dynamic Learning Maps, English Language Arts Consortium to develop an alternative assessment to be aligned with the Common Core State Standards.
