TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have over 30 years of teaching experience from the K-12 and also in pre-service and additional teaching qualifications. Have have conducted international benchmark research in visual and media arts education at the secondary level. I have written curriculum policy documents for the Ontario Ministry of Education and have been writing curriculum at the School, Board, Ministry and Commercial textbook level for over 2 decades. I love to write curriculum almost as much as I love to teach!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe strongly in differentiated teacher and assessment strategies. My teaching style is process oriented and is guided by the creative or design process, and the critical analysis process. I teach integrated, progressive uniting that scaffold skills and knowledge acquisition and culminate, in open-ended, student driven creative solutions to academic and creative problems. I strongly believe in sustainable practices and equity, diversity and fun!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am the co-author of the New Visual Arts Textbook, "Artworks" published by Emond Montgomery. I am also a co-writer of the teacher manual. Currently nominated for Secondary Visual Arts Teacher of the Year by members of the OAEA.

I am one of the founders of the CyberARTS program in the Toronto District School Board. Former Co-ordinator and District-Wide Co-ordinator of Visual/Media Arts for the Toronto District School Board in charge of K-12. Visual/Media Arts Instructional Leader for the Toronto District School Board supporting K-12. Currently Head of Film Arts in the Claude Watson Secondary Arts Program at Earl Haig Secondary School and Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at the University of Western Ontario
