TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Ms. B has been teaching in the public school system for 16 years. Prior to this, she wrote children's books and has published three thus far. A "Fit"ting Fairy Tale, published in 2006, was used by school systems in Virginia and Maryland to supplement the nutrition/health curricula. She has extensive training in gifted education, and has a firm grasp of the Common Core. She has taught third, fourth, and fifth grade skills and has created lessons that have proven to be engaging and rigorous.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Mrs. B. loves to ask questions and lead the students to self-discovery. She engages students in deep discussion, poses open-ended questions, and allows for the students to create their own understanding. Music, movement, art and drama all play a role in developing the whole child!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Mrs. B. has been nominated 4 times for the Excellence in Education Award. She was a Gifted and Talented MSDE award nominee, and she was recognized by ETS for scoring in the top 15% of all prior test takers on the Elementary School Praxis.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Mrs. B. is currently a PhD student studying Instruction and Leadership for Changing Populations. Prior to this, she earned an M.A. in Instructional Design and a B.A. in Studio Art.
