TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a full-time elementary school teacher since 2007 working in third and fourth grade. My school is in a large urban setting with a high ELL population and low income. I also have been teaching an inclusion class for the last three years where I work with students with IEPs. I was a substitute teacher for seven years in six different districts ranging in size from a large urban school districts with 100,000+ population to small districts with less than 100 students K-12. I have also created and ran a school-based mentoring program for three years.

I like to use different engagement strategies with my students including using technology and the arts.

I have my BA in Elementary Education from Washington State University, my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction; Integrating the Arts into Education from Lesley University, Endorsements in ELL and Technology from Nevada State College, as well as additional credits in reading from Brandman University.

I am married and my husband and I have two chihuahuas which are our babies. We are living in Las Vegas, although I am originally from Washington State.
