Most of my teaching experience has been in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. For 25 years I taught in the upper elelmentary grades. My certifications are in Science, but I also was able to teach Art, Spanish, English and Social Studies. The past 10 years I have been teaching in a Catholic High School, where I primarily taught Biology. I also taught General Science, Environmental Science, Marine Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Forensic Science.
In recent times I found that my lectures and labs coverted well into the new technology. I became very proficient in using the computer, smartboard and other technology. It let my students become more interactive in their learning experience.
I don't know if it is an honor, but I wrote a book. It is called"A Time In Heaven and is an adventure/romance story set in Alaska. It is a digital Kindle book. Check it out at facebook.com/ATimeInHeaven.
I earned my Bachelor Degree in Natural Sciences from Slippery Rock University. I continued and earned my teacher certification. A Masters in Environmental Education was also from Slippery Rock University. I took the Praxis exams for Environmental Education and General Science (7-9).
I have recently retired after 30+ years teaching in the Catholic Schools. I have so many of my lessons saved, I thought I would like to share some of them with other teachers. My other interests have added to what I could present to my students. I love travelling, fishing, bird-watching and dogs. I often used my own photos in my lessons. I am also a life-time John Denver fan. I found that his songs worked well in my classroom. For example I used the "Calypso" vdeo to open my marine biology class.
