This is my third year teaching 4th grade after graduating from college in May of 2011.
My teaching style includes as many "hands on" experiences for students as possible. I believe that students learn best when they are able to immerse themselves within the content directly.
I implemented the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge program into my school in the spring of 2013. It was promoted using my class of 4th grade students by creating bookmarks, making a video, posters, and more. Our school placed #1 in the state of Wisconsin after the reading challenge ended in September. A local news story was completed about us, and I was also quoted for a Scholastic eNewsletter. In addition, I made an appearance on a Google Hangouts discussion with Scholastic to share ideas with fellow schools and teachers.
I attended school k-12 in Rochester, Minnesota and moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin after graduation. I went to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for five years, and graduated in May of 2011 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Middle Childhood Early Adolesence (licensure in grades 1-8), and a minor in Learning Disabilities.
I am enjoying my first few years as a new teacher, and LOVE teaching 4th grade! I am blessed to have wonderful co-workers, and a great group of students.
