TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a dedicated professional with 14 years of teaching experience with Cecil County Public Schools in Maryland. I have worked in a variety of different assignments and in different capacities in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English Language Arts. This year, I have shifted my focus and am currently teaching high school English (9th and 10th grade) in Arizona.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My background in theatre has afforded me creativity and originality in my instruction and has helped my students become imaginative and expressive young adults. I form a positive rapport with my students founded on trust and honesty; my students know I care deeply about them. With this relationship, I receive buy-in from my students and feel that they genuinely want to learn.I believe that students need to feel valued and motivated to learn. It is my responsibility to help students take ownership of their schooling and connect real life application to what they are learning. I set high expectations for my students and model clear and concise behaviors to help them be successful.
