TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am in my 4th year of teaching K-5th Grade General Music in Joplin, Missouri. I have also taught long-term substitute jobs in 6th-12th Grade Instrumental and General Music and in 2nd Grade. I teach at a high poverty school, which can add unique challenges when teaching. I love my students, and I can't imagine a better place for me to teach!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

After graduating high school, I attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. I earned a Bachelor of Music Education Degree and graduated Summa Cum Laude. While there, I participated in many music ensembles playing trombone and percussion. I discovered through my observations and student teaching that I loved introducing young kids to the joys and the foundation of music.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I was born and raised in Joplin, Missouri, and the surrounding area. After going away to college, I returned to Joplin to teach. I am married to a 3rd grade teacher, and we enjoy reading, playing board games and video games, and checking out YouTubers.
