TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a teacher for over 20 years. Throughout my career I have been a classroom teacher in all class levels from Prep - Grade 6. Currently I am teaching grade 5/6 in an open learning environment.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I have a real focus on students' having the opportunity to reflect on their learning. I also believe in focused teaching. It is important to share this focus with the students and make them aware of ways they can achieve this focus through feedback based on criteria. I also believe it is important for students to know and use a variety of resources and strategies to help develop their independence and resilience as learners. I am a firm believer in offering opportunities for students to share their thinking and work cooperatively with each other.

I have completed and Bachelor of teaching. Over my teaching career I have participated in many Professional Development opportunities. The most influential of these has been a whole school focus on developing our understanding of the learning process and how vital this is in teaching our students.
