I was a teacher for 29 years and was the executive director of my own private school for young children for 18 of those years.
I am old fashioned and believe that children learn best through play so my teaching style has always been hands-on learning where children are actively engaged in the learning process. I also believe in critical thinking and outside of the box thinking so I love to see young children think and find answers for themselves. I love humor in the classroom and I think it goes a long way in helping to teach and learn new concepts and skills and it seems to me that the happiest teachers and children are the ones who are always laughing.
My School- Clear Lake Community Lab School was voted Bay Area's Best Learning Center in 2010.
I have a PhD in Child Development and Family Studies from Texas Woman's University and a Master of Science degree from the University of Houston Clear Lake in Early Childhood Education and a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Houston Clear Lake in Early Childhood Education with a kindergarten endorsement.
I have two early childhood curriculum books published with Gryphon House: The Complete Preschool Resource Book and Daily Preschool Experiences for Learners at Every Level. Learning the Alphabet Easily- A to Z Rhyming Stories For Early Childhood Education is my latest venture and one I hope will provide hours of fun, humor and helpful skill development in the areas of reading, vocabulary development and rhyming skills for young children.
