TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught in California for 13 years, at a private elementary and a public high school teacher. I have tutored adults in writing while in graduate school, currently freelance write at home, and hold master's degree in English Literature. Writing and specifically, Advanced Composition/ Rhetoric is my emphasis currently. I also maintain my own blog at keebletalk.blogspot.org. Additionally, I served two years as English Department Chairperson and was instrumental in writing the district--wide pacing guide for grades 9-11.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach mostly English Learners and therefore use a great number of scaffolding strategies to get my students where I need them to be. I use dynamic, multi-faceted approach to teaching which produces a great deal student engagement and success within a classroom. I try to use technology purposefully and effectively within the classroom and integrate culturally responsive pedagogical structures as often as I can.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My students love my class and perform at grade level--no matter their skill level when they enter the class. (With of course, the exceptions who have have not made up their minds about learning.
