After teaching fourth grade for nine years (well, fifth for one of those!), I made the switch to first in the 2015-2016 school year. I loved fourth, but I LOVE first! What a fabulous age!
I believe in a student centered, learning by discovery approach whenever possible. Direct instruction certainly has a time and place, but I think that learners retain information they have uncovered themselves more than anything else. I live for seeing my students reach that "ah-ha!" moment!

I got my undergrad in Liberal Studies at CSU Dominguez Hill with a focus in mathematics. While student teaching and working first year at Washington Elementary School I was also continuing my studies at CSUDH to get my MA in Curriculum Development. I love PD and go to as many trainings as I can... learning is a lifelong process!
When I am not teaching, you can find me hanging out with my family and the goats on our hobby farm, reading, crafting, or playing in the dirt in one of my gardens.
