TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Most recently I have been a Long-Term Substitute Teacher in Common Core Algebra I. During this position, I assumed all the responsibilities of a teacher on medical leave including regents preparation. At multiple schools I have served as a substitute teacher for grades Knd - 12th with a primary focus in mathematics. I have also been a proctor for New York State Regents Exams. In many instances I have had the incredible opportunities to tutor. One tutoring position I held was to educate a high school student with medical issues in all subject areas to graduate. I have also tutored at a student support service center at a local college where I aided in educating students with disabilities or from low income families and provided walk in tutoring for groups of 5 to 15 students, fields including: algebra, pre-calculus, business calculus, calculus I & II. One of my tutoring experiences I assisted in educating a high school student in Common Core Geometry & Algebra II. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to be a Teacher Assistant for Calculus II. During this experience I helped educate the students participating in the class, as well as evaluated and graded take home tests.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe being imaginative creates a culture of enhanced learning. It is my goal and dream to produce a classroom where all students receive the necessary high quality curriculum in a creative, engaging, and fun classroom environment. My student’s successes are my successes.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

North Country Scholar; Phi Kappa Phi, Academic Honor Society; Pi Mu Epsilon, Mathematics Honor Society; Kathleen T. Schaffer Award; Mathematics Scholars Award; Summa Cum Laude

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

High School: Advanced Regents diploma with taking college and honors classes. Graduated Salutatorian. College: Combined BA/MST in Mathematics and Adolescence Education. Summa Cum Laude. Conducted a year-long action research project on the effects of the Common Core State Standards on. elementary and secondary math teachers by facilitating interviews and observing classrooms

In judging my suitability, it should be noted that I am a charismatic and confident teacher. I am secure in leading instruction in a classroom and my outgoing personality allows me to work well with a team of educators. I am proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. SMART Board Lesson Development and other modern classroom technology are tools that I incorporate daily in my lessons. In addition, I have had the opportunity to work with diverse classroom technologies while utilizing Project Based Learning (PBL). I aim to continue to educate myself on the most up-to-date technology and how it can be used positively in the classroom. I am eager to learn new ways of using technology. Another asset that I have that I feel is extremely important is that I am innovative. I enjoy coming up with creative new techniques to get students involved and interested in learning. I am a very dedicated, hard working individual who always tries to succeed and do my best. I believe my materials would be an asset to your curriculum!
