I am beginning my 12th year teaching middle school. I've taught Texas History (7th), ELAR (7th), Speech Communications (8th), Journalism (7th & 8th), and Career Investigation (7th & 8th).
I would say that I'm a mixture of old and new school. When I began teaching, my mentors were all 20-40 year veteran teachers. So, my classroom management is pretty old school. About halfway through my career, with retirements and better opportunities...those veterans were replaced with new, young teachers. I've had an unique opportunity to mix new techniques (whole brain teaching, Ron Clark) with old school classroom management. I'm trying new techniques with new teachers and I am very excited about my future in teaching!
