I have been teaching for 13 years with everything from PK-5th grade. I currently teach 4th grade Language Arts and Reading.
I like an old school-new school approach to teaching. I integrate a lot of technology in the classroom and I also like to find ways to look at old styles. My current obsession is using novel study as a way to bridge the understanding between subject areas. I love using Project Based Learning in my classroom, especially long range projects that are cross curricular.
I am a member of the Instructional Leadership Team and co-chair of the Blended Learning Team on my campus. Last year I was Teacher of the Year for my campus! My classroom also serves as a Project Based Learning Model for other teachers.
After graduating from St. Edward's University with a degree in theatre, I spent 2 years teaching drama and music to preschoolers while I finished my teaching certification program with Western Governors University. Through my work in a mentoring and coaching program at the University of Texas, I was offered a graduate school position in their Teacher Leadership, Mentoring and Professional Development program that begins in August. Hook 'em horns!
In addition to being a teacher, I am also a wife and mother to 3 adorable children of my own! We live in Austin, TX and enjoy hiking and shopping!
