I am an elementary school teacher with 13 years of classroom experience, 9 years of which have been in 1st and 2nd grade. I have been a Writing Mentor in my building as well as a representative on the Elementary ELA Committee for the past 3 years. I am also the Curriculum Coordinator and School Improvement Chair for my building. As a Writing Mentor and an ELA Representative, I have been instrumental in implementation of the Daily 5 literacy instruction and Lucy Calkins Writing Workshop model.
I'm an extremely organized teacher and I like things to be orderly for myself as well as my students. I believe that organization and procedures are the keys to helping students become responsible for their own learning.
Yet to be added
I attended Western Michigan University as an undergraduate with certification in Early Childhood Education, English, and Science (K-8 self-contained). I received a Master's Degree from Grand Valley State University in Elementary Education. I have continued my education with an addition 15 credit in classes that focus on ELA.
I'm a form queen!! My colleagues bring me the data they want made into an easy to use form and I deliver, in addition to obsessing and recreating old forms. My specialty is creating assessment forms.
