I have taught in many different places and roles: elementary school (both primary and intermediate), preschool, museum education, sports instruction, and English as a Second Language.
I prefer to use a student-driven, hands on approach to learning. I use experiential lessons whenever possible, as I believe students learn best by doing. I try to encourage self-efficacy, and global citizenship in my students - school is not a place to earn grades, but a place to learn about the world around us.
I graduated from the University of Victoria with a bachelor's degree in Elementary education, BC teaching certification, and early childhood educator assistant certification. I also have a first dan blackbelt in kukkiwan taekwondo.
I grew up in Northern BC, where I attended elementary school and high school. I continued my post secondary education at the University of Victoria in beautiful Victoria, BC, Canada, where I studied creative writing and Elementary Education. I continue to participate in Professional Development opportunities presented to me.
I live in Vancouver BC, where I enjoy the outdoor and foodie lifestyle of the West Coast!
