I have 19 years experience teaching in Bossier City, Louisiana. I am currently a second grade teacher; however, I have also taught third and first grades.
I have typically been a teacher that enjoys teaching with a creative kinesthetic approach, combined with technology to meet the needs of the 21st Century learner; however, after attending the 2014 Whole Brain Teaching National Conference, I have discovered that it is time to add some flair to my style! Bring it on, WBT!
The greatest honor I have achieved is having had the opportunity to touch the lives of many children who are now productive adults, and when I see them in public they say, "You were my favorite teacher ever!" It is my opinion that THAT honor is far better than any plaque hanging on a wall or any certificate stuck in a professional file! I was honored to be selected by Chris Biffle, founder of Whole Brain Teaching, at the National Conference to be a 2014 Whole Brain Teaching Intern. I am on the journey of becoming a certified Whole Brain Teacher! I was selected as the 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year for W. T. Lewis Elementary School.
I attended Louisiana State University in Shreveport, Louisiana, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. My certification qualifies me to teach grades 1-8.
I have been happily married for 23 years. My husband and I have two daughters. Emily is a junior at Louisiana Tech University, and Anna Kate is a junior at Airline High School. In our spare time, we enjoy spending time on the lake with family and friends and traveling to the Caribbean.
