TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 20+ years experience as a classroom teacher in Bossier City, Louisiana. I have taught first, second, and third grades, but have a heart for all children. I recently retired to become a full time TpT Teacher Author. I have a passion for creating differentiated resources and classroom materials as well as leading professional development and mentoring other educators.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I have typically been a teacher that enjoys teaching with a creative kinesthetic approach, combined with technology to meet the needs of the 21st Century learner; however, after attending the 2014 Whole Brain Teaching National Conference, I have discovered that it is time to add some flair to my style! Bring it on, WBT!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

The greatest honor I have achieved is having had the opportunity to touch the lives of many children who are now productive adults, and when I see them in public they say, "You were my favorite teacher ever!" It is my opinion that THAT honor is far better than any plaque hanging on a wall or any certificate stuck in a professional file! I was honored to be selected by Chris Biffle, founder of Whole Brain Teaching, at the National Conference to be a 2014 Whole Brain Teaching Intern. I am on the journey of becoming a certified Whole Brain Teacher! I was selected as the 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year for W. T. Lewis Elementary School.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I attended Louisiana State University in Shreveport, Louisiana, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. My certification qualifies me to teach grades 1-8.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have been happily married for 25 years. My husband and I have two daughters. Emily is a graduate from Louisiana Tech University, and Anna Kate will be a freshman at Louisiana Tech University! In our spare time, we enjoy spending time on the lake with family and friends and traveling to the Caribbean.
