I began my teaching career after earning my Masters in 2011. My first year I taught kindergarten then headed off to second grade the following two years. The summer of 2014 my husband and I moved from the east coast to sunny California where I would take an assistant teaching position in first, then second grade while I began coursework to earn my California teaching credential. In 2018 we moved once more, this time to southern California in San Diego where I would take a temporary position as an EAK (early admitting kindergarten) teacher. The following year I accepted a kindergarten position as an English teacher at a French-American school. ...and as life (or luck) would have it, we found ourselves moving to Texas to be closer to family. I'm currently stepping away from the classroom to be more present at home - especially as we welcomed our baby daughter in February of 2021.
I love learning new approaches to teaching and rely a lot on the influences of other great teachers around me. I am known to be very structured with my class, but believe in student choice and learning through active exploration.
