TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught High School English for 12 years in three very different schools/districts. I have taught English Language Arts in grades 9-12 including 9th and 10th grade Honors English, English Language Development, Read 180, MYP, World Literature (10), Journalism, and British Literature (12). I have served in leadership in a variety of different ways, and I am currently helping to plan, lead, and facilitate Professional Development at the high school where I teach. Teaching is one of my greatest passions, and I can't imagine doing anything else!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am very passionate about student engagement and real world learning and experiences. Learning should not be limited to the classroom! I believe that when we use our students' passions and interests to drive our curriculum, amazing learning can happen. I work to prepare my students for the future with real world skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. You will find that many of my units and lessons focus on these skills. The English classroom provides countless opportunities for students to learn not only how to read and write well but to also explore what they value and believe and find ways to make a difference in the world.
