Although I haven't been teaching long, my experience is extensive. I started my teaching career as a full time PE teacher teaching grades K-8 (a whopping total of 13- 30 minute classes per day), I was also in charge of leading lunch-time inter-mural activities, as well as athletic coordinator. My first semester of my second year teaching was spent at the same school teaching Science to grades 4-6 and PE to Grades 4-8. My second semester of that same year was spent at the high school level teaching full time Science (Biology and Integrated Science). The summer following, I taught Integrated Science during summer school. The following year, I taught 4 periods of High School P.E. and 1 period of High School Science. The last 2 years, I taught full time high school P.E. I am currently teaching High School science. I have spent a lot of time and energy revamping our school's P.E. curriculum and continue to bring fresh ideas and lessons. One year, I was even nominated for teacher of the year, and although I lost to a well deserving 16-year veteran, I was voted staff of the month.
Creative! I strive to make all my lessons relevant to my students. I integrate technology, bring in reciprocal teaching, jigsaw style, divergent discovery, convergent discovery, and every kind of teacher-facilitated, student-centered activities I can come up with. The more I can keep them engaged, the more they will learn!
