TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 12 years of teaching experience. I started my career teaching 2nd and 3rd grade when I taught in Chicago. I then made the move up to 5th grade when I moved out of the city.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to use a lot of high engagement activities like simulations to really get students excited about learning and thinking at a higher level.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2002 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I began my teaching career in Chicago where I taught both 2nd and 3rd grade. I now teach 5th grade in Yorkville, IL.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I grew up in Oklahoma and originally pursued a business degree in college and managed a small business before going back to school to get my teaching degree. Upon graduating I moved to Chicago to begin my teaching career, because I had always wanted to live in a big city and I didn't really believe all the stories I heard. I taught in the city for six years before getting married and moving to the suburbs. I absolutely love teaching and am always looking for different ways to engage students and get them excited about learning.
