Hi! I'm the developer of Bone Bridge® STEM Challenges, and I pride myself on designing lessons for feel-good teaching moments. Please don't misunderstand me; this doesn't always mean "fun" teaching. (More about this in my "Teaching Style" section below.)
I was a classroom teacher for 10 years, and spent most of that time in Pasadena, California. My master's degree is in Design-Based Learning, which heavily informs my approach to STEM challenges. I've spent the last several years focused almost solely on developing multi-grade level/differentiated STEM challenges with supporting videos and PD because I've seen first-hand how dramatic using these types of cross-curricular, hands-on methods to deliver content can be in the classroom!
I'm pretty addicted to the power of STEM challenges at this point, but there are plenty of ways to engage students in higher-level thinking, and I'm all about any lesson that helps students become engaged, resilient, capable problem-solvers!
An effective classroom engages students in critical thinking and problem solving while stimulating creativity and curiosity. I teach using a hands-on, multi-sensory approach that nurtures and develops students' various talents and links content standards to meaningful experiences.
I believe in an academically rigorous, well-rounded, child-centered curriculum that fosters growth with high expectations and positive reinforcement.
Those moments when the students are fully engaged in rigorous content and actually enjoying it ... those are the feel-good teaching moments that make it easy to remember why you wanted to become a teacher in the first place. My aim is to fill my TpT store with resources that give teachers more of those moments and help reconnect you to your calling!
