TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching for 10 years. For several of those, I had the opportunity to focus on science and social studies for 4th-6th grades in Pasadena, California.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Education should engage students in critical thinking and problem solving while stimulating creativity and curiosity. I teach using a hands-on, multi-sensory approach that nurtures and develops students’ various talents and links content standards to meaningful experiences. I believe in an academically rigorous, well-rounded, child-centered curriculum that fosters growth with high expectations and positive reinforcement.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

- Teacher of Excellence Award (2010) Pasadena Rotary Club (One of five teachers selected in the Pasadena Unified School District) - Altadena NAACP Teacher of the Year for San Rafael Elementary (2007) - Successful grant writer - Pasadena Educational Foundation Grants - 2004: Art Integration - 2005: United Streaming Technology Infusion - 2006: Digital Storytelling - 2007: Math Magic - LACOE Digital Voice Project Grant 2006 - Pasadena Math Pipeline teacher, co-led district summer math trainings - Achieved the highest percentage gains for fifth-grade student achievement (Proficient and Advanced categories) in the Pasadena Unified School District for the state Science STAR exam.
